Pastor Chuck’s spiritual journey began with a family crisis. His mother was a very active woman in the community. She was a cub scouts leader, active in the little league auxiliary, and enjoyed taking her children shopping, to the beach, and other places. But when Chuck was only 10, his mother suffered permanent damage to her spine when the porch railing she was sitting on broke and she fell 15 feet down to the cement driveway. She became very embittered because she could never do the things she enjoyed. His father turned to alcohol and it soon consumed him resulting in the loss of his job and he never recovered.
The Lord used this tragedy to draw Chuck into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He had been a skeptic and had been very cynical of Christianity especially not being willing to accept the idea that Jesus rose from the dead, but he started attending the local community Bible church. The people of that church showed him the love of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit broke down his stubborn unbelieving heart and gave him new life in Jesus.
Upon graduation from high school, Chuck graduated from Flint Bible institute (diploma), Eastern Michigan University (B.S. & a M.A. in History and another M.A. in Educational Leadership), Grand Rapids Seminary (Master of Theological Studies), and South Florida Theological Seminary (Doctor of Religious Education).
Chuck taught at Bethel Christian School in Lancaster, California for nine years and served as Dean of Students for the last three years. In 2000, he felt led of the Lord to move into the public school and taught there until he “retired” in 2016. While there, he met the love of his life, Della and they have now been married for over 17 years. Upon retirement, Chuck felt led of the Lord to accept the call to pastor Littlerock Community Church in Littlerock, California and pastored there until he “retired” to move back to Della’s hometown in Turtle Lake, North Dakota. While at Littlerock, the Lord tripled the attendance at the Sunday Worship Service and God also added a Saturday morning prayer and Bible Study, a women’s Bible study, the addition of weekly youth group, and the expansion of our Sunday school.
Within a few months after moving to North Dakota Chuck once again prompting him to once again begin pastoring and he accepted the call to become the Designated Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Wilton. Pastor Chuck is already seeing God doing some great things here and we are looking forward to many more things in the future. Pastor Chuck is anticipating that God will do the same thing here at First Presbyterian of Wilton that He did at our church in California. One of Pastor Chuck’s favorite verses is Proverbs 4:25-27 “Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you.Ponder the path of your feet, and let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; remove your foot from evil.”(NKJV).
